Winter Flu Jab Service

Winter Flu Vaccination Service

Boots at Lakeside is helping to protect you from the flu this winter.  Every person with seasonal flu may not be affected in the same way, but common symptoms include:

  • Fever
  • Headaches
  • Sore throat
  • All over aches and pains

When you have seasonal flu, it's most likely to be wintry and miserable outside, with October through April representing the peak time for infection.

If you do contract seasonal flu, the symptoms of the virus normally peak after two to three days. Within five to eight days you should feel like you're returning to your old self, although symptoms like catarrh can persist for longer.

For a healthy adult, seasonal flu shouldn't be life threatening, but symptoms such as fever certainly aren't pleasant and can interrupt your usual routine more than you would notice with just a sniffle.

For certain high risk groups, such as the elderly or those with an underlying medical problem, complications such as a chest infection can lead to a serious, life threatening illness.*

The Boots Flu Vaccination Service

Boots at Lakeside offer a walk-in or bookable vaccination service costing just £12.99, to help you avoid the effects of seasonal flu this winter.

Due to the recent exceptional circumstances and increased demand for flu vaccinations, there is a limited availability of stock. We would encourage customers interested in this service to contact the Lakeside store on 01708 869871 (Ext 554) to check availability.

LIVE VACCINATIONS START ON 19TH SEPTEMBER 2011. OVER 16s ONLY.

*You may be entitled to a free NHS flu vaccination from your GP if you are over 65 or if you have any of the following conditions: diabetes, lung disease, asthma, heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, lowered immunity due to disease or treatment (such as steroid medication or cancer treatment) or removal of the spleen, or if you have had a stroke.
